The varmala ceremony is one of the most important ceremonies at any Indian wedding. The ceremony is a sign of promise to accept and respect each other as bride and groom do by exchanging garlands. This is one of the most important ceremonies an Indian wedding. The exchange of Garland means marriage and the beginning of a new life together. Varmalas are flower garlands and style of these garlands vary from community to community within India. Like for example in South India flowers such as mogras is most commonly used to make wedding garlands; where as in the northern part of the country, garlands made of roses and marigold.
